Monday, my baby boy turned 3 years old! How in the world can this be true? It makes my heart both happy and sad at the same time knowing that he is growing into such a little man.
We started off the morning with Daddy going to get donuts. He made them into a monster truck (Rhett's latest obsession).
We then let him open one present... and you guessed it, more monster trucks!
We then went to McDonald's with Mommy, Gentry,
Dida,
Mawmaw, Aunt Taffy and Uncle Craig.
Next, it was time to PARTY! Since Gentry was born just 8 days earlier, I knew that there was no way to plan my usual party for Rhett. But, I couldn't let his day go by without making him feel special. So, we had a small family party for him that evening at our home.

He wanted a construction themed cake that he saw months ago at Target. So, the idea began...
I had my mom tie an extension cord into a giant bow for the front door and made a few signs with poster board and my
cricut.
The birthday table:
We used old blue prints that my dad had as the table cloth and lots of Rhett's toys as serving pieces and decor. We threw in a few real tools as well, and voila!
I made these signs and we printed them and used at various places around the party, like place mats...
... and also taped to various things
I kept the cost down by using so many things that we already had, but wanted some balloons. So, I stopped off at Party City and chose 6 balloons in the colors
du jour and tied them to each side of a level.
We printed out this sign and then added the letters using my
Cricut. It served as a centerpiece for the food table.
My dear friend, Betsy, filled this tool box with things for Rhett at my baby shower over 3 years ago. I added the "DIP" sign and a small tray for various dips. I used plastic shovels as serving utensils.
I also used one of Rhett's trucks and added another small tray for dipping sauces for the chicken nuggets. Also, I filled one of Rhett's hard hats with a bowl and added some chips.
Another dump truck bed was used for napkins.
And another for Chick-
Fil-A nuggets.
As a backdrop for the table, I made this "Speed Limit" sign.
The only thing the birthday boy cared about at all was THIS cake.

He had a great party! Thanks to my mom for all of her help! I didn't realize how difficult it would be with a newborn, but we did it. Rhett was happy and that is all that matters. Happy Birthday to my sweet boy! I love you so much and thank God every day for making me your mommy!

Today, Ms. Gentry Grace turns 1 month old! What a blessing she is to our family! I can't believe it's already been a month since she graced us with her presence. She is such a good baby. She truly is a gift from God!

My dad found the bed at a garage sale for $2o! It looked just like some that Pottery Barn Kids carries, but needed a little work.
So, Jeremy (and Rhett and I) got to work sanding, priming, painting, and repairing. I've never really "painted" furniture before. (At least not the proper way-- if spray painting doesn't count). This was a painstaking process to say the least. I don't think Jeremy or I will be painting anything else anytime soon.
My house has been turned upside down for the last month or two. It sometimes looked like a war zone. I'm thankful to have some peace and harmony back to our home!
The weather wasn't so cooperative, so much of the painting was done inside. This is mid-process. Still needing more coats.
But, Rhett LOVES his new bed. He keeps telling me, "thanks for decorating it!". Sweet boy!
