Thank goodness Rhett has been fever free now for over 24 hours (according to his doctor, at that point he will no longer be contagious). He still feels puny, but we are (hopefully) on the downhill slope of this!

Swine '09
It's official, the swine flu has hit our household! We are resting and recuperating, and doing a bunch of this:

Yesterday and Today
What I did yesterday:
I added all of those knobs! All by myself! I am becoming pretty handy with the power tools (when not getting my hair caught in them)!

What I did today:

I found this houndstooth fabric at Hobby Lobby on clearance. It was a remnant, so I bought it thinking I could definitely use it for something. Then, I saw the link below, and knew just what I'd use it for. I made 3 of them, cut dead limbs off of my Japanese Maple and painted them gold, and voila! Cute fabric pumpkins, no sewing necessary!
(Step by step instructions with photos, from here.)

Happy Birthday, Mom!
Today is my mom's birthday. Today, I celebrate a wonderful woman whom I am so lucky to be able to not only call a friend, but also my mother, and my child's grandmother. I wish that I could give back to her all of the wonderful things she has given to me throughout my lifetime (not just monetarily). She is the most generous woman I know. Growing up, she always, always, always put my needs before her own, and I guess now she still does sometimes too. To see her face light up when she sees my son is priceless, and fills my heart with so much love and joy. She is a giver, has a huge heart, is a warrior and a survivor. She has fought (and won) many a battle. I am so thankful that the Lord chose me to be her child, and I am so proud to call her my MOM!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO A GREAT FRIEND, A GREAT MOTHER, AND A GREAT GRANDA!
WE LOVE YOU!!!!!!!

We are working on "thank you". Sometimes he will totally say it perfectly, and sometimes he looks at you like you are crazy! Oh well, win some, lose some!
If you are still with me, then I would also like to impress you with his knowledge of the alphabet. :) There is a sign on the island in my kitchen that is about his height. Every time we say letters of the alphabet, he runs to the sign and points at the letters. He doesn't get the letters correct, but he knows that those are letters. Here is a list of the letters he can say: A, B, D, E, I &O!
He can also tell you what a firetruck, a cow, a cat, a dog and duck say. Sometimes he will also pick up his sheep and "bahh", but that is usually after some prompting.
He can easily follow commands, such as, "let's go brush your teeth", "let's go put on your pj's", "let's go change your diaper", "let's go night night", "put that back", "let's go take a bath", etc.
He is a pretty smart kiddo, and needless to say I am so proud of him and I just love him to pieces!

"Witch" Crafts
Well, not really witches, but I was trying to keep in the Halloween theme! I had some down time today, so I decided to copy some boxes I recently saw. I didn't copy them exactly, but for $7.50, I made my own, and I think they turned out pretty darn cute!
I put them in Rhett's bathroom and I think that after Halloween, I might just take out the "Trick or Treat" and add "Happy Fall Y'all" and keep them up til Christmas.

Save the Tatas!
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is a cause very near and dear to my heart. A little over two years ago, my mom was diagnosed. A double mastectomy and several reconstructive surgeries later, she is still with us and it is because of a mammogram. Early detection is key! Please self examine, have regularly scheduled mammograms, donate to the cause or race for the cure! Imagine a world without cancer... oh what a wonderful world it would be!
Rhett at 1 month old and already a boob man! ha! ;)
