Playing Catch Up

My computer has a virus that we can't seem to get rid of, so I haven't been using it for much internet usage of late.  But, I figured it was about time that I updated this ol' blog because our summer is quickly coming to a close, Rhett is about to start Pre-K, his second season of Blastball, and we are about to be one busy little family.  So, here is a cliff notes version of our last month of summer.


On Friday, August 10th, Jeremy and I celebrated 10 years of wedded bliss.  We went to dinner at the same restaurant we went to when he proposed, almost 11 years ago.  It was a wonderful reminder of where we are, where we've been, and how far we've come.  I love this man so much, and cannot imagine my life without him.

 Gentry practiced putting on make-up (on more than one occasion).

My dad suffered a heart attack this summer and was hospitalized on two separate occasions.  Thankfully, he is doing much better, and we hope he's on the road to a full recovery!

 We went to the museum one day with some sweet friends.  My kiddos love the Children's portion of this museum and could happily spend the entire day in this section alone!

 While my dad was home recovering, we made a little visit to see my grandmother.  On the way home we passed a GIANT junkyard and my dad wanted to stop to check it out.  Rhett checked it out too.

 We celebrated my brothers' birthdays at Papasito's.

 We did a little re-arranging in Rhett's room and moved this play table in there.  He kept telling me thanks for putting his "desk" in his room, asking me to come into his "office" and telling me if I needed him, to just call his "desk phone".  Crazy, boy!

 I made this sign for my Mother-In-Law's birthday for her beautiful backyard.

 I had the kids' annual pics made, and picked up two of these frames that I've been wanting forever.  They are perfect!

 It has been strangely mild for Texas this summer.  Only a few days of 100+ degree heat.  So, we've done a lot less swimming, and a lot more enjoying the outdoors this summer.  This particular day was like 78 degrees or something crazy, so we enjoyed free ice cream on the patio at a local Ice Cream Parlour.

Ms. Gentry got to participate in a product photo shoot a few weeks ago, with one of our favorite photographers, Paige Walker Photography.  Above are the shots from her session.  I seriously love the way Paige makes Gentry's eyes sparkle.

 While Gentry was getting her pictures made, Rhett stayed behind at a sweet friend's house.  Because it was rainy that day, they couldn't play in the sand outside, so she made him a sand pit to play in inside her garage.  Spoiled, spoiled little man.  But, we are so thankful to have such sweet and caring people to call on to watch our children if needed.  They love Rhett like he is their own, and he loves them just as much.

 Rhett has spent a lot of time this summer practicing and perfecting riding his bike without training wheels.  We've had a few crashes, but he has done such a great job and I am so, so, so proud of him.

 And finally, this photo brings us to yesterday, when we went to meet Rhett's new teacher.  I forgot my camera, and then left my phone in the car, so this is the best shot I got, before we left.  Looking forward to a great year in Pre-K for Mr. Rhett!

Now, hopefully I am all caught up.  Let the busy-ness of fall commence!
