I have been busy busy creating these personalized Halloween buckets for trick or treaters (big and small)! Here are the finished products:

J & B at the Apothecary

I have been in the mood to spruce up my master bathroom lately. I seriously would love to paint the cabinets either black or give them a distressed look, but cannot convince my hubby. So, the other day, I decided that we needed a little something to "note" who's vanity is who's. (Never mind that my husband's vanity is taller and since I am 6', I use his sink for almost everything)! I got some of those gold letters at Hobby Lobby, and voila:

A "J" for Jeremy and a "B" for Brittany. Now there is no confusion! :) Hope he doesn't make me stick to that!


While I was at Hobby Lobby (weekly), I fell in love with this distressed apothecary sign. I decided it would look great in the master bath, and it was half off! They only had 2 left, and I noticed that both were damaged on the edges. So, I asked if it was discounted more due to damage, and they gave me an additional 10% off. SCORE! The best part is, you cannot even tell that it is damaged! It just blends in to the intentional distressing!

So, I guess our master bath is complete! (At least until I can convince my hubby otherwise!)

You're bootiful, it's true

A childhood friend of mine recently contacted me to make her youngest daughter a Halloween outfit. She asked me to look at some pictures and see if I could duplicate that. Sadly, I am not the handiest with a sewing machine (must get better!), so I told her I could make a tutu, bow and a shirt. She agreed that she would like a tutu and gave me the ok. So, this is my creation:

2000 zero zero party over, oops, out of time...

... so tonight I'm going to party like it's 1999!

Whew, what a weekend! I.am.EXHAUSTED! This weekend was my 1o Year High School Reunion. I was on a team of only 3 people who were involved in planning this thing and I don't think I realized how much work it truly was going to be. Every little big plan I had was scrapped last minute. But, I doubt that anyone noticed, except me! I know I am my own worst critic though, and heard from many people that they enjoyed it. I didn't, but my night was mostly filled with running around doing things, so I didn't have much time to catch up. I have made up my mind that I WILL NOT be involved in planning our next reunion! Enjoy some pics from our evening!

These girls were my BEST friends growing up. Life has taken us all down very different paths, but it was sooo nice to see them all. I wish we could get together more often!

Ummm, WOW!

I recently ran across this recipe for Apple Dumplings. From the looks of the pictures, I knew I HAD to try them for myself. So, last night, I did precisely that. I try to take my inlaws one meal a week to lighten their load a little (that is my intent anyway). So, I decided this week to also take a dessert. Boy, was it delish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unlike the original recipe, I didn't add the nuts because I don't like them and my MIL can't eat them right now. I also didn't add the caramel sauce because I forgot to buy it :(. We didn't serve it over ice cream either because my MIL can't have cold things right now either. Despite all of that, they were still soooo good. Even my husband (who normally only likes chocolate and rarely wants any other kind of dessert) ate two! I highly recommend you make these for yourselves! I am thinking of making a whole bunch and taking them to Thanksgiving dinner. They kind of remind me of fall. And if you'll notice, the recipe makes eight, there are only seven in my picture. That is because I couldn't wait to taste them until after the picture! :)

C is for Carson... or Caitlyn!

My cousin is due to have her first child around Halloween. She and her husband have been married 14 years, and this is their 1st, probably only, and most definitely unexpected little miracle! They were not planning on having a child right now, and I am not sure if they were ever planning on it. But, God has His own plans, and they are excited for their little surprise to get here! This past Saturday was her shower, and she is not going to find out the sex of the baby. They said that this whole journey has been a surprise, so they planned to keep it that way until the very end and not find out what they are having. Very brave of them! Not me, I wanted to know the very second I got pregnant with Rhett, but I am impatient and nosey like that! ha! Anyway, so this weekend was her shower, and I wanted to make her something more personal. But, since I didn't know whether it was a boy or a girl, this proved to be a bit challenging. I e-mailed her sister, and found out the colors/theme of the room, and went from there. I also found out that the baby would have the same initials whether it is a boy or a girl, CKC. So, this is what I came up with:
I think the blue makes it more masculine, but if you look closely, you can see pink on the edges and the bow definitely feminizes it.Hard to see in the pic, but the middle letter has ric rac trim wrapped around the side of the canvas and a cute ragamuffin bow on top.

I also made them some cute baby blocks with the baby's initials, the letters "ABC", numbers "123" and "I (heart) U".

The blue in my painting is for Eeyore and the pink is for Piglet! I hope they like them in the baby's room and we are excited to add a new little baby to our ever-expanding, extended family!

Happy Fall Y'all!

I am really getting into the Halloween spirit lately. We had Rhett's Halloween/Fall pictures made last weekend and while we were there, I saw these cute corrugated tin pumpkins (above). My mom and I got to thinking that we could easily make them and save ourselves some money. Turns out, that is easier said than done! (Now we know why they cost so much-- they take FOREVER to make!) But, I attempted one with plans to make more, and here is the first one:



Not the cutest, but for my first one, it isn't so bad! The white dots are actually glitter (hard to see in the pic).

And, here is my next creation:
I used a bunch of scrap pieces of fabric and some cute Halloween ribbon, and created this Halloween Ragamuffin wreath. Inspiration from here.

And, while I was checking out her blog, I was also inspired to make these!
I love how the last two projects turned out. I have plans to make more of both of these for various other holidays. And, the best part is, they are both SUPER cheap to make! However, the wreath certainly takes a while. If you are going to attempt one, I would recommend a smaller wreath. Little Mess

My MIL bought Rhett an iced, school bus shaped cookie at a local bakery.

And boy, did he enjoy it!

The next day, when we got home, he wanted a "snack snack" (that is what he dubbed them) and I gave him some cheese crackers. He was walking around with one, and would come back to me for another and another. I thought he was eating them, but when my husband got home, he found where Rhett was storing them...

Maybe he was saving them for later!

Little Mess!

Can't Hardly Wait!

I HEART Fall! I love the cooler temps, the leaves changing, the decorations, football, and my husband's chili! I think it is even more special to me now because of Rhett. I had so much fun last year watching football games with him, dressing him in Dallas Cowboy jerseys and Texas Tech apparel. I loved taking him to the pumpkin patch, dressing him up in his Halloween costume, and taking him to Boo at the Zoo. So, as much fun as I had last year with an infant, I can only imagine the fun I'm in store for this year with a toddler!

Today at Target, I stumbled across this and I got it for FREE thanks to a Target promo that Money Saving Mom published! I already put some candy corn in it and am not going to put it up until Christmas gets here. So what if it's only the first of September!;)

And, I am so excited because today I almost finished Rhett's Halloween costume. I decided a few months ago that he was going to be "Bam Bam" from the Flintstones cartoon. It is appropriately fitting to him based upon his size, strength, and destructive nature. Also, his hair is sort-of blond. (Close enough!) We are having his pics taken in a pumpkin patch this weekend and the photographer recommended that he wear his costume. Thus, the reason for such an early creation!

And lastly, I made one of these for my MIL and one for my mom based off of this craft that I saw last year. It isn't quite the same, but this is my version based upon available supplies at Hobby Lobby. I have been waiting a whole year to make it! I had to improvise and only put initials on the one for my mom because my niece's name (Taylor) was too long to fit on a small pumpkin.

Just the slightest dip in temps gets me all excited for fall, so I had to post a few fall goodies! Stay tuned, more to come!
