Lots of Random :)

There has been lots going on of late in our household. So, to catch up, here is an update all at once.

1.) Rhett enjoyed reading with his daddy.
2.) I won a giveaway of these ADORABLE Popsicle covers from Jeni of At Home in Georgia. (Although, it won't be Georgia much longer... I wonder if she'll change the name?!?)
My favorite are the polka dots. She also sent that ADORABLE card!
3.) Rhett found a new hiding spot. It's behind the couch in our formal living area. It's also against a window, so there's really like 1 foot or less of space for him to squeeze in there. We've caught him back there a few times, and usually it's after he's gone potty. :(

4.) Rhett's Mawmaw bought him some goggles and he LOVES them so much, that he doesn't want to take them off his head. However, he refuses to wear them normally. Crazy kiddo!

There has been lots more going on, including planning and preparation for Rhett's 2nd birthday!!! Look for a post on that coming soon!

Dinner for friends

A friend of mine, that lives down the street, had a baby recently. I wanted to take them dinner because I remember how helpful it was for people to do that for us when Rhett was born. I decided that rather than taking something in a dish that needed to be returned, I would take over a basket with all the necessaries for dinner. So, I loaded the basket up with all things pink (because she had a girl). I made one of my favorite dishes, Baked Creamy Chicken Taquitos, which I tied up with a pink bow. I included an appetizer of seasoned tortilla chips and a corn salsa, a side of rice (that they needed to make), a can of refried beans, and a dessert of Cinnamon Chips and Fresh Fruit Salsa. I covered both salsa jars with a pink polka dot fabric, and I also lined the basket with the same cute fabric. I typed up a little menu on pink paper and put the re-heating instructions on the back for easy reference. I also included pink paper plates, pink plastic cutlery, and pink napkins (that way there would be minimal dish washing). Lastly, I included a card welcoming their new baby to the world. It really turned out cute, the pics don't do it justice! I hope this made dinner time a lot easier on them, at least for one night!

Wrap It Up

Yesterday was my Mother In Law's birthday. While wrapping her presents, I developed a theme... Candy. One of her presents was too big and too heavy to wrap any other way but to make it look like a tootsie roll. So, I did just that. Then, while wrapping the next present, I ran out of ribbon, and only had enough to put a small amount at the end. So, I did, and it looked like a stick of gum. So, the final present, I just put it in a sack and used the remaining red paper as my tissue paper, which left an empty wrapping paper roll. I wasn't happy with the way the sack looked amongst the other "candy". So, I just removed the paper from the sack, wrapped it around the gift and did my best to make it round. Then, I used the empty wrapping paper roll as a stick and created a lollipop.

Rhett really loved them and kept saying, "Candies, Lollipop, Open Open!"

If only I could have gotten him to look at me!

From Trash to Treasure

Today is trash day in my neighborhood! I have mentioned before how I stumbled upon someones trash which I brought home as my treasure. But, today, as I walked outside to take my trash to the curb, I noticed this:

And this:

2 lovely, chippy, red planters that my neighbor was throwing away!!! I quickly brought them home and put them straight into my backyard! I have been looking for something to add to some empty spots, and these will work perfectly! Now, I just have to figure out what I should plant inside of them!
Here is a pic of Mr. Rhett this morning in the back yard: (Just because when I brought out the camera, he said, "CHEEEEEEESE!".
