Potty Training (cnt'd)

We are still working away on this potty training thing, with little success. I bought the above bucket and filled it with little trinkets and candy, but it doesn't seem to do the trick either. Now, I am going to attempt 3 Day Potty Training. Wish me luck!

Potty Training (Part 2)

We introduced Rhett to the potty several months ago, and he was going on it consistently about once or twice a week. Then, as quickly as it began, it ended. So, we kept talking about the potty but never made much progress otherwise. Well, my mom bought Rhett these cute underpants for his birthday, but Rhett never showed much interest. I put them on him the other day and he told me, "no mommy, off". So, I put the diaper back on, and put the underwear away. Today, Jeremy got them back out and told him that truck drivers wear these kind of pants, so Rhett decided to give it a try. He wore them for about 4 hours and had two accidents, but at least we are making some progress! He sure looks cute in his "truck driver pants"!

God Bless Truckers!

Tonight, my sweet boys (Jeremy and Rhett) watched a documentary about Peterbilt trucks. Rhett developed a fondness for 18-wheelers while watching the movie Cars, a favorite. While watching the documentary tonight, he began referring to the truck drivers as truckers. He would get upset when the show would go to commercial, and upset when it ended. As we were putting him to bed tonight and he was reciting his prayers, we encouraged him to say extra prayers for his Mawmaw (whom is having a serious procedure done tomorrow). After he asked for extra blessings for all of his beloved friends and family, Rhett added, "God Bless Truckers". That sweet boy melts my heart!

Mail Call!

I used to HATE when my parents would drag me along on antiquing excursions! But now that I have grown, I have a new found love of antiques. Don't get me wrong, I am still not a huge fan of period antiques. But, I have come to especially love unique pieces, especially when they are not used in their traditional, intended way. So, when I stumbled across an old, wall-hung mailbox for $10, I knew just what I'd do-- make it into a mail organizer inside my house. I have been looking for something to put outgoing mail in for some time. I didn't like an organizer that was left in plain sight because it can get quite messy. I saw a new, similar piece online for around $40, and it was open as well. So, I was hesitant to spend money on something else only for it to look junky. This one is great because it fits the space well, has hooks on the bottom to be used for keys, bags, coats, etc. I thought it needed a little something extra, so I painted the word mail on it. I love how it turned out!
