Fall 2012- Part 1

Whew!  Things quickly have gotten SO busy!  Fall is always our busiest time of year, but this year seemed extra crazy.  It seemed every weekend of Sept./Oct. was booked full of some kind of celebration.  One Saturday we had 3 birthday parties to attend in one day.  THREE!  And they weren't even all in the same town.  I am tired just thinking about it and still don't feel quite recovered from all of the go, go, going.

Here is a partial breakdown of our Fall 2012:

First up: every year, our neighborhood hosts a Fall Festival and Plant Sale.  We rarely get the chance to go to these events, but this year, they had such pretty displays set up, that I knew it would make a good photo op.  So, after the Festival and Sale were over, but before they took all the displays down, we stopped by for an impromptu photo shoot. 

 And, it all went down hill from there:

On Friday, the 19th of October, we celebrated my mom's birthday!  We went up to spend the day with my grandmother (always a treat for my kids).  I took this pic and posted it to Facebook that morning before we left.  This kicked off the weekend o' birthday celebrations.
 

 

That Saturday, Rhett had a Blastball game at 8 a.m., then we rushed home to get him dressed for the first birthday celebration of the day, a Costume Party.

 After that party, we rushed home to change again, and to pick up Gentry, to drive about 20 mins. away to go to the 2nd birthday party of the day, for our Cousin Carson.

 Then, we rushed back home to pick up Jeremy, change AGAIN, and go to the third birthday party of the day, about 50 miles away.  It was an Army party for our friend, Jack. 

4 wardrobe changes in one day was a bit much for this boy!  He was D.O.N.E. with me taking his picture by the time we'd reached our final party destination of the day.

The Monday after the weekend o' birthdays, we hosted a Pumpkin Painting Party for several friends from Rhett's school (yes, I am CRAZY!)  We had a Halloween themed lunch, played pin the nose on the pumpkin, played pumpkin bowling, and painted our pumpkins!  It was a fun afternoon!

I found these pumpkin face stickers at Target, peeled labels off of Sunkist drinks and made pumpkin drinks for all the kids!

 That same week, was also Cowboy Week at Rhett's school.  They dedicate a week every year to studying all about the cowboy way of life.  The week ends with "Rodeo Round Up" where they children get to participate in several activities, and get their picture made on a real pony!  The kids are encouraged to dress in cowboy attire, and this year, they also allowed parent volunteer participation.

 I volunteered to help with Rodeo Roundup, and was put at the face painting booth.  We painted "Rodeo Clown Faces".  This is Rhett's buddy, Cade.  Cade's mommy couldn't believe he let me paint his face!  She said he'd never let anyone paint it before.  Most kids enjoyed the experience, my child, however, did not!

First BlastBall Game of the Season

Mr. Rhett had his first blastball game of the season last weekend.  He is once again on The Diamondbacks, but almost everyone on the team is a new player.  He has much improved from his first season last year, and I am so proud of the little athlete he is becoming.  Little sis wore a new "Baseball Sister" outfit I made her to support her brother, complete with matching sunglasses!

First Day of Pre-K

 Rhett started Pre-K yesterday!  I am so proud of my big little guy!  He's in a class with his cousin again, and about 3-4 other friends that we know.  Most of his class is girls, and he sits at a table full of girls, and he's the only boy.  Funny! 

I wanted to make his day extra special yesterday, so I created a fun little tablescape waiting on him when he woke up.

 First day teacher gifts.  Unfortunately, one of his teachers couldn't be there yesterday, so a sub got her cake.  Oh well!  She seemed appreciative, though!

 I asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up.  He answered with about 5 or 6 different things.  I asked what his most favorite was, and he chose construction.  Which he calls "Conscrutchen".  I kind of hope he never learns to say it right! lol!

 I made a bunch of paper airplanes to hang from the light over the table.  Jeremy says I need to work on my paper airplane skills.  And, when he got home, I had a lesson in proper paper airplane making.  We then had a makeshift airport in the kitchen.

 Pre-K: Big Man On Campus

 After school, we got a cupcake from our favorite cupcake shop, and Rhett had a little surprise waiting on him when he got home.

 His annual first day of school fish lunch.  And, added bonus, they ended up learning about letter F that day!

 The night before, he requested pizza for dinner, so I added a special Pre-K touch!

Looking forward to a great year for my boy!  Can't believe that Pre-K is already here and that Kinder is creeping up so quickly!  I have MAJOR nerves about that!  But, for now, we're going to try to enjoy Pre-K in all it's wonderful, two-day-a-week, 9am start, 2pm end, glory!
