Sunday was a beautiful day here in Texas. Jeremy was taking advantage of the nice weather and servicing our trailer to get it ready for an upcoming trip. His shadow, aka Rhett, was "helping" him and playing on and around the trailer. I was inside and had just decided to lay down for a
Sunday afternoon nap. All of a sudden I hear screaming and crying and came flying out of our bedroom to a blood soaked little boy. Apparently Rhett was getting off of the trailer, thought he had his footing, and fell to the ground, face first. We assessed the damage, amid lots of blood and screaming, and decided that he needed stitches. So, off to the hospital we went!

The hospital is brand new in our area, and there was NO ONE in the ER. We got right in, right in a room, and at one point, I think the entire ER staff was in the room checking Rhett out. They were so nice. They gave him a Matchbox car, a teddy bear, and a sheet of stickers. The doctor and nurses were super sweet and kept stopping by the room to check on us.

Rhett was given Versed, and let's just say he was a funny little "drunkard". He began slurring his words and told Jeremy at one point, "Daddy, you have 3 eyes.". We laughed a lot at his funny ways.

The stitches themselves were very traumatic for Rhett, and I'll admit, I had to turn my head. Though, I did surprisingly well with the whole thing, I couldn't watch the numbing shots in his little face or the stitches going in. And, apparently, I missed the part where the doctor nicked Rhett's face because he was fighting so hard, so the doc just settled for 2 stitches rather than the 4 he initially said it would require. Glad I didn't witness that!
We left the hospital with a little boy still feeling the effects of the medicine, so he had to be carried for a while. We made our way to
Wal-Mart for a new Thomas the Train Station, and all was well with our little guy!
I know that being a mom of a boy, this is just the first of many ER visits and stitches, and I am thankful it wasn't worse!
